ROLE WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining mobile heavy-duty equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Fabricate, construct, install, and repair equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose equipment problems and determine required repairs.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service heavy trucks and heavy construction equipment.
- Repair, overhaul, maintain and service fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, engine control systems, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, installation and alignment of engines and machinery.
- Repair, overhaul, maintain and service drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, power take-offs, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, vehicle brake systems, wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering.
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company. POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Considerable knowledge of the construction, design, repair and adjustment of a wide variety of both conventional and specialized heavy equipment and machinery.
- Considerable knowledge of the usual types of automotive tools and equipment, as well as the special tools, gauges, machinery and shop equipment used in repair, servicing and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Ability to detect by inspection any worn, defective or improperly adjusted part of the assembly.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records of repair and service operations.
- Skill in the diagnoses of defects and failures of specialized and heavy equipment, and in the use and operation of specialized tools and equipment of the trade.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, coordination and dexterity.
- Good physical condition.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of the job:
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, push, pull and balance.
- Required to stand, walk, bend, squat, and kneel for prolonged periods of time.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, equipment with tracks, and balancing with three points of contact is required.
- Heavy lifting (up to 80 lbs.) is required.
- Hand eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment.
- Driving motor vehicles and heavy equipment is required.
- Specific visual abilities required of this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
The noise level in the work environment is occasionally noisy. Work is frequently performed inside and occasionally around hazardous machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to high temperatures, fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees are subjected to the outside elements which include and is not limited to heat, cold, and rain.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT :
Frequently uses assorted hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, ratchets, hammer, sockets, etc.), and may use heavy impact air wrench, shop power tools, computer, diagnostic tools (scanners, analyzers, etc.) and other related equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is based at the Midland, TX shop.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Heavy Equipment Mechanic reports to the Vice President, Operations.
