POSITION AVAILABLE: MANDARIN TEACHER, 3 DAYS/WEEK (M, T, Th)
Torit Montessori School is an infant through sixth-grade independent school on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Our mission is to educate bright and capable students in the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori’s groundbreaking methods, allowing students to explore materials, ideas, and applications at their own pace, with guidance, direction, and encouragement from teachers. Torit offers Arabic, Mandarin, and Spanish to all age levels to all children several times each week.
DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS: We seek a dynamic Mandarin speaker to offer language and culture instruction across the school to infants through 6th graders, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The teacher will partner closely with classrooms and must be excited about building collaborative learning partnerships. The successful candidate will take responsibility for all aspects of the world language classroom experience, including developing strong partnerships with colleagues and families. All teachers are responsible for preparing the classroom environment, developing and delivering curriculum, establishing classroom routines, family communications, and record keeping.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: ● Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students● Lead academic and behavioral routines● Maintain professional communication with peers and families and exhibit a collegial demeanor● Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community● Participate in and support special events/activities● Participate in professional development initiatives
