Job Summary

The Nursery Attendant is responsible for the care of infants and toddlers (ages 0-3), on an as-needed basis, during Sunday morning Christian education, worship, and fellowship time and for other special services. This position provides  safe, secure, nurturing, clean, and efficient care, exhibiting Christ-like patience and love for our youngest children.  This position may also be responsible for occasional childcare responsibilities for children up to 10 years of age for special church events and activities.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and welcoming nursery and provide age-appropriate care including feeding, diapering, toileting, maintaining a safe environment, monitoring and cheerfully interacting with infants and toddlers 
• Warmly greet each child and parent/guardian, calling them by name, when they arrive at the nursery
• Check in/out all children, collecting any information needed from parents, ensuring all communications and safety protocols are followed
• Engage children in organized, age-appropriate  play, songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc. 
• Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled service time and remain in room until last child is picked up by respective parent/guardian
• Provide light custodial services (i.e. cleaning up spills, wiping counters) and ensuring the nursery is clean before leaving, sanitizing toys
• Abide by the Safe Church Policy at all times, including maintaining required training
• Maintain good hand washing/hand hygiene after diaper changes and after assisting children with tissues for coughs, sneezes or runny noses
• Monitor condition of nursery equipment and communicate needs for supplies, snacks, etc. and report any concerns or ideas for improvement to the Committee chair 
• Communicate in advance (2 weeks) planned absences
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with all ages and abilities, especially dealing with parents and children in a professional manner
• Knowledge of the age appropriate needs for children 0-10 years and 1 year childcare experience 
• Maintain a positive attitude and be creative and flexible in solving problems
• Ability to work well in a team and independently
• Must be CPR/First aid certified 
• Must have reliable transportation
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Paid hourly position $20-$25 per hour depending on experience
