Job Description

Position Summary :
The Resident Assistant plays a vital role in helping residents with daily activities such as grooming, eating, dressing, and bathing. In this role, you will encourage residents to maintain their independence and function at their highest potential. The position is designed to provide compassionate support while maintaining residents' dignity and well-being.

Key Responsibilities :
You will assist residents with a variety of personal tasks, including hygiene, dressing, toileting, and mobility exercises. You will document each resident's progress and report any changes in their health to the management team. Keeping the environment clean and safe is another important part of the job, as you’ll help with tasks such as making beds, tidying rooms, and maintaining communal areas. Under the guidance of licensed nursing staff, you may also monitor vital signs and assist with medications. You will ensure that residents are properly fed, helping them with eating when needed, and may assist with the collection of specimens for testing. Regular participation in training sessions and team meetings is expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills. You will also follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications and Competencies :

Requirements :

  • Education : High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience : No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
  • Certifications : CPR and First Aid certification required (or preferred depending on location).

Physical Demands :
This job requires physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, and kneeling. You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds consistently and occasionally up to 100 pounds. You will need to be able to push or pull up to 100 pounds. Visual and auditory abilities are necessary to ensure the safety of residents, including the ability to hear alarms and calls for help.

Work Environment :
You will be working in a resident care setting, where there may be occasional exposure to unpleasant tasks or health risks. Following infection control procedures and safety protocols is essential for the protection of yourself and the residents.
