Summary – Spotter Helper

We need alert, safety-minded teammates who can keep people out of harm’s way whenever aerial lifts are in use inside Amazon sort centers.

This position involves extensive travel to client job sites to work beside lift operators to create clearly marked work zones, steer foot traffic, and provide real-time guidance so the job runs smoothly and—most importantly—safely.

Travel & Overtime Expectations- Automation and Controls Technician:

• Must be willing to travel 100% and work extended OT hours July-November.
• Holiday break starts mid-November, work resumes early January.
• After training, you’ll ride in a company vehicle with the project team between sites.

Responsibilities - Automation and Controls Technician: 

• Establish and maintain safe exclusion zones. Tape off active lift areas and set cones, barricades, and signage so everyone can see—and respect—the boundaries of the work zone.
• Direct pedestrian and equipment traffic. Act as a lookout, rerouting employees, vendors, and drivers away from hazards while staying in constant radio contact with the lift operator and site supervisor.
• Inspect and reset the work zone throughout the shift. When the lift moves, quickly reposition tape or barriers and keep the area clear of debris or obstructions.
• Support daily safety briefings. Help review the job-hazard analysis, confirm communication signals, and record any near-miss incidents so issues are addressed right away.
• Provide general crew support. Retrieve materials, help load or unload supplies, and ride with the team between job sites as needed.

Qualifications - Automation and Controls Technician: 

• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle to travel to the training site in Arkansas and to/from designated sort centers.
• At least 18 years old , able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Comfortable standing and walking for 8–12-hour shifts, frequently climbing stairs, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Excellent verbal communication and situational awareness; able to stay focused in noisy, fast-moving environments.
• Basic proficiency with two-way radios or push-to-talk mobile apps.
• Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, or overtime as project schedules demand.
• Experience as a spotter, flagger, or safety attendant in warehouse, construction, or industrial settings.
• Familiarity with OSHA warehouse safety standards and ANSI A92 series (boom & scissor lifts).
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
